Warming

Trading in a white picket fence for living out of a van, synthpop artist Brady Allard is the multi-instrumentalist behind Winnipeg’s Warming. His music began to take form of an obsession when he left his job, his house and his partner of a decade. While living out of a van, he wrote the 12 song LP - a lush, driving mix of 80’s inspired pop, twisted synth noises, lonely arrangements and memories of his former life.

All pre-recorded music has been removed from this episode.

The set list originally featured in this episode:

Jaywood

What started as bedroom "sad jangle pop songs" just singing about how sad or miserable I was, things slowly started to change as time went on (both style and direction wise) into the more "psych funk" sound that is shown today! JayWood carries a unique sound that has been entirely self-taught, and manages to combine indie-pop with jazz chords and a psychedelic feel. His music is heart-felt and therapeutic at its core, but hosts a feel-good dance party at live performances.

Set List:

JayWood “Club 3Dx” Single

JayWood “Another Life” Single

JayWood “Quit Your Job” from Somber > Summer EP

She has 3 EP's under her belt, with her full studio album set for release October 12, 2018. The new album is a combination of organic and electronic sounds with stuck-in-your-head melodies and dreamy soundscapes that will keep you humming all week.

Mitten Claps

Percussive familial pop.

Mitten Claps is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and consists of brothers Jonathan and Randall Hildebrand. The duo's music is at turns energetic and sparse, spastic and delicate, showcasing intricate guitars and melodic vocals interwoven with unpredictable rhythms.

In 2009, both brothers were musically on their own, after each having played in different previous bands. After aimlessly rehearsing and writing together while hoping for a new band to materialize, they decided it was already fully-formed at two members, and started writing and performing as Mitten Claps.

Dominique from A La Mode

This is the 31st episode of the Winnipeg Music Project with my new best friend Dominque Lemoine from A La Mode. I'm serious, we're probably the same person. Just kidding but I feel like we got along really well. It's super awkward if she didn't think we did. We did accidentally confess our love for our each other towards the end of the interview, which if that doesn't show our immediate bonding, I don't know what does. Anyway, we talked about the new release of their first full length album "Perfection Salad" and the new band members and how that's affecting the band vibe. We also talked a little about grant writing and our feelings. Listen to it!

Josh and Josh from June Killing Stones

The twenty-sixth episode of the Winnipeg Music Project with Josh and Josh from the indie rock band June Killing Stones. This was a crazy fun and exciting interview with lots of tangents and goofy conversations. We had a lot of fun talking about they're recently release EP "Little Portents".

Because the extended version is so much longer than the broadcasted version, I've included the links to both. The extended version is pretty hilarious though, Josh the drummer took over asking ridiculous and hilarious questions. You need to listen!
