Come enjoy the monthly Nashville MB series as the cozy taproom at Kilter Brewing Co. transforms into a Nashville-style Writers Round. Each month features intimate performances by four of Manitoba’s finest songwriters who will share their songs in turn. One performs a song, followed by the next writer, and the next, and so on. Each songwriter might join in with the others, add harmonies, contribute a guitar riff, or just listen. Writers talk about how and why they wrote the songs, and there are always lively stories and interaction between the writers.
Join us on the first Thursday of the month for another Writer’s Round featuring a new lineup of songwriters. Join our host avant-pop pianist KWIAT with jazz-influenced crooner Jovelle, cinematic folk poet Flora Luna, and gritty alt-rock act Tinge for another night of endearing stories, hearty laughs, and killer tunes.
Advance tickets will be available soon, $12+ Fees.
Ticket Link opens on Thursday, April 23 at 9:00 AM.
All ages welcome! Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Rush seating only.

KWIAT (pronounced kwai·uht) is a Winnipeg-based Métis Polish avant-pop artist whose music blooms at the intersection of fiery piano anthems and poetic mystique. Drawing from the raw intensity of Fiona Apple, the theatricality of Tori Amos, and the hook-driven punch of modern indie pop. The Polish word for "flower," her name reflects the duality of her music, both delicate and bold.
Her debut single, Follow The Call (co-produced with Hawksley Workman), cracked the Top 10 on SiriusXM’s The Indigiverse and surpassed 40K cumulative streams, heralding a self-titled EP due in 2025. A classically trained pianist with a voice that swings from delicate to defiant, KWIAT has enraptured stages at Winnipeg Jazz Fest, Festival du Voyageur, Pride Winnipeg, and alongside artists like Jim Cuddy. Her rising acclaim has earned spots on Billboard Canada’s Women in Music Spotlight in 2024 and the 2023 Women in Music Canada Honour Roll, proof of an artist rooted in craft, culture, and unapologetic vision.
Jovelle Balani is an emerging jazz-influenced pop singer-songwriter. Her sultry voice and sophisticated sound have made waves in the local and international music scene.
In 2020 and 2022, she represented Canada at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Anaheim, California. She bagged medals in several categories and made it as a Finalist.
Jovelle has developed her artistry through various performance opportunities, including the TD International Winnipeg Jazz Festival and the Fringe Festival. She has also showcased her talent at iconic venues such as the Burton Cummings Theatre, Centennial Concert Hall, and the Canada Life Centre.
Flora Luna (alias Geneviève Freynet) is an award-winning artist from Winnipeg, Manitoba, offering lush alternative pop-folk in English and French. Winner of the Réseau des grands espaces/Festival Les oreilles en pointe (France) award, she launched her international career to acclaim in 2024. Nominated for three Trille Or prizes in 2025, she is establishing herself as a rising voice in the Canadian music scene. A semi-finalist at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby and winner of Chant’Ouest in 2022, she has performed at major festivals, including the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival, KDAYS Festival, Cathedral Village Arts Festival, and Festival du Voyageur (opening for Jill Barber).
Among the highlights of her 2024 and 2025 tours are two series of performances with Home Routes — one of twelve and the other of fifteen concerts — as well as a tour in Ontario and Quebec. Building on the momentum of her 2024 debut EP, Flora Luna will release her first full-length album in 2026, Symphonie nocturne, marking a significant artistic turning point. Echoing the artistry of Feist, Norah Jones and Klô Pelgag, Flora Luna draws listeners in with her gracefully powerful and expressive vocals, heartfelt vulnerability, and cinematic sound, moving fluidly between emotional turbulence and luminous calm.
Listeners of Tinge are transported to the '90s through heartfelt grunge and emotion. Fusing gritty guitar riffs with haunting vocals, they craft a sound that’s unapologetically bold and deeply personal. Led by 2-spirit Veronica Blackhawk, their Anishinaabe heritage is weaved into modern concepts through songs that explore loss of culture, reclamation of identity, and breaking through difficult cycles. Debuting in 2023 to great acclaim, Tinge became a staple in the Canadian alt music sphere, with their EP “Big Deep Sigh” - including a highlight among “Five Indigenous Artists you Need to Know” by the Grammy Awards, and named one of the top 15 EPs of 2023 by EXCLAIM! Magazine.
